Inverness Boardwalk & Beach

Inverness Beach. Between trails & tunes, Inverness village has a kilometers long sandy beach great for a swimming break. The beach also offers up a weathered glass collectors heaven. The Inverness Boardwalk parallels this warm water beach offering spectacular views of the shores of Inverness, Margaree Island, the Banks of Cape Mabou, and the world class Cabot Links golf course.

For local history of this former coal mining town (until 1957), visit the Inverness Miner’s Museum with photos, paintings, tales from town history and mockups of a miner’s life at work and home.

Celtic Music Interpretive Centre

The Celtic Music Interpretive Centre is a first stop for intro to Cape Breton Music. Local musicians offer up traditional Scottish and celtic music, song and dance of Cape Breton. The Centre features a museum featuring live demonstrations and interpretation. There is a restaurant, gift shop and daily noontime Ceilidh’s (pronounced Kay-Lee, a gaelic word for kitchen party) Listen to our musicians explain and play such tunes as marches, strathbays,jigs, and reels. Watch them step-dance to the music!
